BTW, I’m having strange problems with Java. I tried to reinstall Minecraft recently, but was unable to install Forge, because rightclicking at forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1614-1.7.10-installer.jar does nothing. I just can’t run it in any way.
BUT GT 6.14.09 works fine! 
I would still recommend you to use the newer GT Versions with the bugfixes and Stuff.
And you somehow managed to uninstall java itself, maybe install it again?
I will upgrade to the lastest GT and switch off the splash screen.
But of course I tried to reinstall Java. It is not a solution. My current version is Java 8 Update 291 (build 1.8.0_291-b10). I think that the problem may be related to the blocking of foreign servers by Russian government.
BTW, Minecraft uses it’s own copy of Java, if you do not force it to use Java in your OS.
If foreign Servers are an Issue, use Tor or a free VPN.
