GregTech-6 Main Thread

So, would the Reactor Core recipe change really happen? I’m pretty looking forward.

Pretty sure I did that one, yes. Not everything is mentioned in the Changelog.

An Update to GregTech has been released!

Cue the fully automatic Changelog:

Felt like adding a Bottle Crate, I improved some parts of the backend a bit to make Blocks that can keep Items easier to implement. Each of the 9 Slots can contain a whole Stack of (potentially filled) Glass Bottles, to whatever stacksize you hold in your Hand.

Whoops, just a minor thing that might be an annoyance to people, the previous Version will be hidden, this Version is compatible with other Versions when joining Servers just like always. The Bug was just that a nearly empty NBT Tag was saved to almost all my TileEntities. That and settings didnt get saved to Mass Storages anymore, which is what i get for trying to improve the backend of TileEntities that store their Inventory in Item form.

Guns, the Bullets have not been added for nothing! I had to rewrite the ray-trace (not the graphics one) to actually make these work, which is why I procrastinated it originally, since I did not properly understand the Maths behind it until now.

It seems that those alloys that yields less units of material than the sum of their constituents give the most density and are thus best bullet materials. Compared with Gold and Uranium which gives 5.0 hearts, Signalum gives 6.5, Soularium and Electrum Flux gives 7.0, Energetic Alloy give 8.0, Vibrant Alloy gives 8.5. Netherite gives a very impressive 20.5, but it’s also very expensive.
Additionally, Electrum Flux gives Disjunction III, Energetic Alloy gives Smite IV, Vibrant Alloy gives Smite V, Soularium gives Looting II, Netherite gives Fire Aspect III.

Also, so sad that Red Alloy can’t be used as bullet material, or it would theoretically be both inexpensive and quite powerful.

The downside of Netherite is, it will cause Fires, lots and lots of Fires.

that’s a downside? also, is phosphorus a valid bullet material?

I dont think that is a valid Bullet Material because of not being a valid Tool Material. But that might be an Idea.

Given that explodes, it’d likely blow up in the gun. Blew up in my face the other day trying to boomstick some phosphorous ore.

Releasing the Bugfixes for the Holidays, while I continue playing the Steam Version of DwarfFortress that came out 3 weeks ago. ^^

Merry Holidays!

Expecting comparison comments between the two versions, hopefully they’ve found a better control method than ukhm.

Hahahahaha, yeah the mouse with GUI makes it soooooo much easier to play, apart from wasd (well i mapped it to arrow keys) to move the camera, i dont even use the keyboard anymore.

Some things sometimes are still frustrating, like all GUIs are internally inconsistent, some menus let you close the item category dropdowns (Trade, Stocks) while others dont (Pedestal), even though both are a “Stocks” Menu. Same with Animal assignment, miles better than the original, but its still the “select animal from linear list of all animals” garbage, and dont get me started on the stupidity of the search function not being able to match strings in the names of items…

In a lot of cases I need to unlock my mousewheel just because of having to scroll insanely far down, sure there is the scrollbar on the side i can just click and drag but that’s a mouse movement i dont like doing.

Overall everything is better though, so definitely worth playing. Just be aware those Elves are not only wood lovers but also vegetarians now, so no murdering (or for some reason shearing) animals and selling the results to them. They got angry when i sold meat to them and then they never came back to that fortress anymore.

And because the controls and visuals are so much better, it’s also more fun to explore the different industries, since you have a much more explorable list of buildings and everything you can make.
