You have stated in your “Ideas” page that progression will be in “ages.” Does that mean that you have to progress through every part of the age? More clearly: will you be able to progress through different parts of progression while keeping others undeveloped? Example: Hyper-pacifist doesn’t care about weaponry so they completely ignore it and go full on material science and exploration-based tech, do they have to go and deal with weaponry in order to progress?
Also another thing I just realized, what’s actually preventing out-of-order progression? If you smelt an ore that contains both the ingredients of whatever alloy that random generation chooses to be bronze, in the right ratios, what’s preventing it from becoming a crude bronze? Or some form of other weird thing happening
Yeah each NPC civilization will do their own thing, though they might not be “hyper” on any one cultural direction. Each Civilization will have different problems with different Resource shortages that they need to address based on where they live and how they are connected with each other.
Please note most civilizations will have like 100 or so NPCs at most, because at some point I do need to care about performance, even though NPCs are gonna be quite optimized to work “offscreen”.
Also nothing will prevent outoforder progression, but good luck actually pulling it off without building at least the tools needed out of the other materials. Afterall, you CAN have Tungsten early but you sure as fuck cant anneal or melt it without infrastructure.
when I said “hyper-pacifist,” and mainly with this entire thing, I was referring to the player, like maybe they had the equivalent of “peaceful” mode on and they just didn’t need weapons, but I see now that ages are just an easier way of organizing the system and not some locking mechanism like in the sevtech ages pack
Yeah Tier Systems are bullshit, I regret using them in all of GregTech…
As for Peaceful Mode, that will probably be implemented by just having Mobs not aggro against the Peaceful Player. No need to delete Mobs like Minecraft does it…
I’m actually kind of excited to see how various npc civilizations that are heavily separated or on different planets develop separated from each other
