Is the durability of rubber low for a specific reason? I would consider rubber to be a fairly durable material but it’s base durability is something like 16. It’s not a high quality or fast material so I’m fine with that, but I would expect a rubber soft hammer to last longer than a regular wooden one, or similarly something silly like a rubber sword. Is this for balance perhaps? I can’t think if rubber is particular useful for anything else other than piping which doesn’t take into account durability.

Yeah that durability is quite low, its increased in the Source now, didn’t commit yet.
