Do we need a cross-platform game with gregtech's detailed progression?

Hello. I haven’t found any mobile game with such a detailed mechanics like gregtech has. So, I think it would be great to write a new game which would implement it.
Well. The question is: can I just copy all machines, ores, items, multiblocks and recipes? Will it break license? I hope it won’t.

it shouldnt, assuming you release under a GPLv3/Compatible license, but you should be mindful of some of the textures being based on mojang textures, which are very much not under a free license of any sort, additionally it may be possible for microsoft to take issue over mechanics being too similar to vanilla minecraft

also it would be a waste of effort to make a 1:1 recreation of gregtech, there is certainly much to be improved, and if you are going to spend the effort to reimplement all of gregtech (and all of 1.7.10, a LOT of effort) it would be comparatively easy to make adjustments

also i think ive seen people on this forum using some program to run java minecraft on mobile, unsure of the details but that would probably be the better decision than remaking all of minecraft and gregtech lol

Yeah. I know that there are some ways of running minecraft on mobile devices, but I guess it is uncomfortable to play. Well, gregtech is a minecraft dependency, so you’re right that 1:1 copy is impossible.
Greg has already done researches in chemistry / ore processing and many other stuff. I guess I still should use this mod as an example.
There is one more reason to do this project. I want to be able to sync accounts, so people can just log in from another device and continue playing in their save.

Yeah if you make an actual Mobile Game out of it yourself, with crossplatform to Desktops and Stuff, I would highly recommend you to either just use that Minecraft Mobile Client thing if it exists, OR to make a whole game from scratch that DOESNT have all the Minecraft Stuff in it, so you can focus on the Tech Aspect.

Theoretically, I can do this. I am learning Spring Framework which allows to create web-apps, so cloud saving would be possible. Also I should make well-designed UI to provide the best experience to players on any devices.
Well, there is a lot of things to do, but I will try.

Cloud Saving is a double edged sword, if it works for the player then perfect, everything is fine, but when it doesn’t work, then its a nightmare to fix any save file issues, and might end up wiping your saves.

Not only cloud saving would be available, but also local one (which will save data on current device). Players will be able to sync data between local and global account.

What i would suggest is having the downloaded Cloud Saves NEVER override the locally stored Saves, and instead have the downloaded Cloud Saves be in a different Folder, so that when loading a Save you can decide whether you want the original Save on Disk or the Save from the Cloud.
