Devouring Darkness: Discussion thread

I’ll carve it into stone so hopefully the memo will survive long enough to be around when I unlock Æ2. Maybe.

Ok, so the bugfixed version of ExtraCells2 forked from the abandoned original does NOT include the new 1.12 updates to the ME Ore Dictionary Export Bus.

So only basic patterns are supported, ie: “ore*”. No regexp, no negation, no fancy patterns.

Sounds like you should get a PR in?

No, they fixed it in 1.12. That’s the version all the docs are for.

Another interesting find:

The ExtraCells2 ME Fluid Import Bus won’t always pull from the GT machines, especially where gasses are involved. They also don’t work with pipes. Use a drum instead with the bus and it will work.

Who needs bugfixes when you have a forum thread detailing bugs and workarounds?

The Issue is, everything works correctly on both ends:

  • GT6 Pipes only connect to things with Tanks (or other GT6 Pipes).
  • The Fluid Importer only connects to things with Tanks.
  • GT6 Fluid Pipes only have Tanks in the directions they connect to.
  • The Fluid Importer does not have a Tank, so the Pipe wont connect.
  • Therefore GT6 Fluid Pipes wont have a Tank on the Side the Importer points to, making it impossible for either of them to connect, meaning you need a Tank/Drum inbetween.

And then there is the second Issue:

  • Some GT6 Machines have multiple Fluid Tank Outputs.
  • Fluid Importer only takes the first Fluid to drain.
  • If the first Fluid does not match, it wont try another.

So ofcourse you always will need a Drum or Barrel as inbetween to make sure shit works.

Interesting bug there, GTNH’s AE2 fork could probably fix it if PR’d in?

I haven’t been on the server in a while, is that new person here yet?

No. Radio silence.

This isn’t a Simcity knockoff. One of the server players has been busy building works of art.

Clearly I’ve not made the modpack hard enough.

How’s the server been doing these past months? I still every now and again vaguely reminisce, but haven’t had a chance to actually visit

On an unrelated note, I often want to ink sketch DD. I think the style would suit it well, especially if done white and black, or only with desaturated colours

Server’s up. Lilfyrr and myself have been logging in intermittently.

I’ve been swamped with work, and playing BG3. DD is a hard pack, that also means it’s a long term game. Can’t “beat it” in a weekend. =]

I’m still hopping on and enhancing my base. Rerunning larger ME cables. Planning to increase my power inputs. Considering nuclear.

It’ll remain online until no one is on for 90 days. It’s never too late to start!

Don’t forget that DD’s also playable SP locally.

I’d love to see art work describing your (mis)adventures in DD. I even posted a background story for the pack to help set the scene.

Well, time to tear down the wall of mass storage. It’s all going into AE now.

Have all the mass storage dumping their contents via pipe into AE.

Good luck on that one, you’re using Brass Pipes for that, meaning 1 Stack per second, meaning this is likely gonna take a real life day or two to filter in. Combine that with the fact that AE is not good for storing millions of the same Item, you are gonna get a lot of Drives filled with that Red Dust on the right.

I have work, so it can run as long as it needs. =]

I also have systems setup to automatically compact 1/72 to tiny dust, tiny to small dust, small to dust, and dust to block. It’ll sort it out.

I have an absolute ton of drives now.

You could just use the Mass Storages to compact the 72nds to blocks, you know.

I had been. I just wasn’t going to keep upgrading the pipes. It was also awkward having to access the MS instead of the items in AE.
