Authentication for Multiplayer Stuffs

But then that’s not globally disambiguatable, unlike prefixing on their public key. ^.^

That part isn’t part of their name, it’s only used for disambiguation purposes, like for permissions or whatever.

but at that point you could just type in the public key into a command as if its a UUID or something and autocomplete from there lol.

Except it’s convenient to also refer to a specific person via a significantly shorter way in, say, chat or so too.

What could be done is if you have your own Friends List with every Key in there having a Nickname you assign to them (may default to screen name). Since it is your Friends List clearly you could just name someone whatever you want in there, even if its an insult. XD

That List would also translate into Autocompletes too.

Edit: You dont have to be friends with a person either, so uh Acquaintances List?

One Idea would be that everyone who you happened to see on a Server gets stored in a List, so that you can somewhat keep track of if you saw that person before or not. Also makes it easier to “friend” people if they are sorted by how often you met them.

There will probably be a range requirement for someone to be considered as “have met”, or just pinging someone in Chat (or having been pinged) could count as “have met” too. Everyone else would be considered as “was on same server, but is unknown”.

Though if there is a Range requirement, that Range has to be VERY low, otherwise you can exploit that as a Radar.
